SUBMISSIONS CLOSE FRIDAY 5 DECEMBER |

We are excited to announce that we are now accepting submissions for symposia topics for the AMSA 2026 Conference.

The conference theme is “Marine Science with Impact”, meant to bridge the vital connections between science, policy, and communities to ensure marine research continues to shape Australia's sustainable future.

The Conference Scientific Committee will select submitted topics to combine and allocate focused concurrent sessions that we hope will excite and engage all those attending the conference. If your topic is selected, the conference will invite abstract submissions to your symposium. Symposium Convenors will be asked to review abstracts submitted to their symposium and indicate which abstracts they would like to see accepted. However, the final program allocations lie with the Scientific Committee.

Aside from simply suggesting topics relevant to your research, please also provide names of relevant experts who agree to convene the symposia, and suggest someone (who could be one of the conveners) to present a keynote relevant to the symposia topic.

Submit details regarding your proposed symposia topic (using the submission portal below) before COB Friday 5 December 2025.

Abstract submissions for selected symposia will open Monday, 26 January 2026. This portal is not available and we are unable to accept early abstracts.

Please have the following details ready for your submission:

  • Title of Symposia

  • Description (e.g. scope, audience, etc.) in 200 words maximum

  • Names, email addresses and affiliations of 3 suggested symposium convenors

  • Name, email address and affiliation of 1 suggested keynote speaker

SUBMISSION PROCESS & FAQ

  • We recommend using a PC or laptop for any submission via the portal.

If you have not made a submission for any previous AMSA conference, nor registered for AMSA before, please select “Register or submit to this event”. If you have an existing profile in the system, please “Register or submit with your Currinda profile” as a returning delegate.

  • 1 - Select the presentation type and preferred symposium.

2 - Enter the title of your abstract. Please type the title in sentence case (that is lowercase with only the first letter or the first word in capitals) and without any punctuation. A correctly formatted example follows: Title of my presentation for the conference

3 - Enter the name of all authors and their organisations and indicate the presenting author by ticking the relevant box.

4 - Type or cut and paste the text of your abstract/synopsis into the relevant field.

5 - Preview your abstract, make any changes required and finalise your submission and return to your dashboard

6 - You will receive an email confirmation that your abstract has been successfully submitted. Please check your email junk file in case it has been captured there.

7 - Should you wish to make any changes to your abstract after you have submitted it, please log onto your online registration dashboard. Click on the “View Submission” then “Preview/edit abstract”.

****Please note you will only be able to make changes to your abstract until the submission deadline, after which any changes should be sent to Adelle Xue**

  • Want to make sure your abstract is accepted? The Scientific Committee will be looking for submissions that:

    • are relevant to the theme of the conference

    • are relevant to current issues/challenges

    • have fresh/new scientific content, and data for specific topics

    • are relevant to an audience

    • are engaging for an audience and

    • have a clear take-home benefit for delegates

Based on these criteria and the number of submissions to the Conference, oral abstracts may be moved to other symposia, be accepted as a poster or be rejected at the Conference Scientific Committee's discretion.

  • You do not need to be registered to submit. However, to make a submission, you need to have a Currinda profile.

  • The AMSA Scientific Committee will review all submissions. If there are similar topics, the committee will reach out to you with options. This may result in a combined symposium.

  • You can edit your submission up until the submission deadline of Friday 5 December.
