Dr Jennie Mallela

Dr Jennie Mallela is a marine ecologist and environmental scientist with over 20 years’ experience working across Australia, the Indo-Pacific and Caribbean. Her research focuses on coral reef resilience, climate change, pollution, and sustainable marine management. Jennie leads "Reef Science Consulting" and holds an Honorary Senior Lectureship at the Australian National University, where she teaches, supervises and mentors research students in marine science and sustainability.

Jennie has contributed to marine park management plans, UNESCO reef reviews, ministerial briefs, and published high impact research. Her long-term reef monitoring work contributes to management decisions for multiple Australian Marine Parks. Jennie is passionate about connecting science, policy, and community, and regularly leads education and outreach programs with schools, rangers, and local communities. She also serves as a Governor for WWF Australia.
